Corey and I have been bouncing the idea of building a cabin around for a few years. It looks like we are ready to get rolling on the cabin. A few years back, we went to log cabin building school (www.schooloflogbuiding.com) and learned enough to fake it. I hacked together a couple of projects; now, I'm ready to tackle a building. Corey will move up to Red Wing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to help out. I'm thinking 12 to 18 months and we will be ready to move the shell up north. So far I found some logs (33 Red Pine), rented a building site, and bought an old tractor for moving logs. Over the weekend, I cut a few trees moved the logs to the builidng site and then stacked them on skids. It took two full days to get the logs stacked out of the way. A day to learn to run the tractor and another day to actually do the work.
If things go well, I hope to start the layout this week.
