Today, we wrapped up the class;
we enjoyed the wind and the cold coming off Lake Superior. We did manage to build a traditional gable end roof system that will be used on the sauna. Because the materials were so large and heavy, we opted to build the roof structure on the ground. That way we didn’t have to mess with 16 foot 6” x 10” timbers from ladders and scaffolding.![]()
The roof system consisted of timber staked and cut to the desired roof pitch that support a ridge, two plate logs, and tow purlins. In general, this cabin is extremely overbuilt, but it suited the desires of the designer.
We also cut out the door opening and got it ready for bracing and door installation.
